Winter Chores. Ouch!
With the lovely winter storm we just had last week, it brings to mind a common thing I hear from patients. "It's been hurting for a while, but I didn't want to come in until I was finished with (insert activity here)." Folks want to wait until they're done with whatever physical challenge they have coming up before they get adjusted because they don't want it to "go right back out" again. Here's the thing. That's a bad idea. If you go into a physical job with your joints not working right, you're more likely to hurt yourself. It's much better to get adjusted before the big job, and hopefully avoid any injuries. I know I'd rather risk having to get another adjustment versus getting injured because I did physical labor with a bad back. It just makes sense to take care of what's wrong before you add insult to injury. No pun intended! So, the next time you've got an ouch somewhere, get it fixed before you tackle that weekend warrior project. Your body will thank you for it!
